Sega has given PSP and PC tennis fans an adrenalin boost by announcing that Virtua Tennis 3 will be smashing its way onto said formats in a simultaneous multi-format court conquest next spring.
Already announced for Xbox 360 and PS3, the game promises to beef up its popular World Tour career mode with new player creation and 10 new skills mini-games. There are also the welcome threats of quirky multiplayer mini-games for up to four players and five-set matches.
The Virtua Tennis spillage doesn't end there, though. Sega has revealed its roster of male and female superstar headliners. For the latter, it's a tasty mix of the sexy and the macho, as 2006 Wimbledon champ Amelie Mauresmo heads up a list of current greats that include the stunning Maria Sharapova, powerhouse Venus Williams and Martina Hingis. Nicole Vaidisova, Lindsay Davenport and Slovakian Daniela Hantuchova also feature.
As for the men, it's fellow Wimbledon champ Roger Federer that headlines, closely followed by World No.2 Rafael Nadal, Andy Roddick, Tim Henman and Lleyton Hewitt. There are also debuts for James Blake, Mario Ancic, Gael Monfils and Taylor Dent. David Nalbandian, Sebastien Grosjean, Juan Carlos Ferrero, and Tommy Haas complete the list.
Let's hope they nail the Sharapova likeness to a tee when they create her character model.
