A stage that recreates the original layout of levels 1-1 and 1-2 in the original Super Mario Bros. game will be included within Super Smash Bros. Brawl, the official website stated today.
Four screenshots depict the new take on the levels, with 1-1 having apparently turned to ruins over the years. Looking over the shots, we think they don't know the difference between ruins and a muted colour palette.
The backgrounds do look quite nice however and it's always fun to give in to nostalgia once in a while, so long as you don't go so far as to cry out, "They've ruined my childhood" when the smallest thing is changed.
If you're prone to doing that, you might want to avoid the other reveal on the website. To accompany the Mushroomy Kingdom stage, an excerpt of the re-recording of the original 1.1 music has been released.
The track, which serves as the theme for the stage, has been arranged by Mr. Koji Kondo, the creator of the music for Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
We're probably in the minority here, but listening to it is a bit like having a phone call with a good friend you haven't seen in a while. Except that his voice is drowned out by the crooning of a housemate singing along to Mika on the radio. Let us know what you think below.
