Dead Rising versus Romero goes a bit legal

14th Feb 2008 | 13:44

It's zombie face-off time! In the red corner, Capcom's Dead Rising. In the blue corner, George A. Romero's Dawn of the Dead.

New Line Cinema has complained about the similarity in theme between the game and the film. Both of which feature zombies in shopping malls - and the upshot is there's currently legal fisticuffs over whether Dead Rising infringes on intellectual property rights.

Capcom's responded with giving the verbal equivalent of the finger, saying that "humans battling zombies in a shopping mall" is a "wholly unprotectible idea". But the issue has yet to be resolved.
