Mario Kart Wheels sold separately too

Hardly a revelation, but it's nice to know

The wheel peripheral that comes with every copy of Mario Kart Wii will also be available as a stand-alone item on the day of release in Japan.

Mario Kart Wii can be played using either a GameCube contoller, a Classic controller or a combination of the Nunchuk and Wii Remote, but Nintendo says the wheel is the best way to play the new entry in the franchise. It's also the best way for the firm to continue making more money than the Queen.

It will be available for 1200 Yen ($11, £6) from most stockists, but we'd imagine that price will creep up to around £14.99 when it hits the shops in the UK.

We'd also suggest that you test out the initial wheel you get with the game first. We're not convinced it's going to be our favoured control choice at all.
