Borderlands features a random weapon generation feature which creates a near infinite amount of guns for you to collect. These are the best weapons we picked up during one playthrough. You'll end up with your own personal collection on your trek through Pandora... good luck.

LB7 CAUSTIC WRATH
A decent 'softening' sniper to have in your backpack, this corrosive sniper is handy for weakening enemies before a full-scale skirmish. Use your scope wisely and combine it with a shock weapon for maximum effect.

ZX11 HUNTER'S STRIKER
A man's shotty, this non-elemental weapon packs a real punch with +30 Critical Hit damage and +50% accuracy on top of already beefy stats. Ideal for anyone around level 25-30 looking to get stuck in.

MADJACK
Don't let the weak damage fool you - this revolver has a decent zoom and a chance of inflicting explosive damage. You can get multiple Madjacks by killing its respawning owner, One-Eyed Jack, in the Firepower: Market Correction mission.

THE ROASTER
Clue's in the name here folks - this rocket launcher, complete with a nifty zoom, will ignite any enemy it's fired at and they'll burn for ages. Pity it's let down by a small, two-shot magazine. Still, a good choice of weapon for dedicated Brick players.

TD430D DESERT SMG
This deceptively mean SMG may seem tame with a damage of 51, but it has a great rate of fire, lowered recoil and oh yeah, highly-explosive bullets. Combine with a decent Mercenary Mod for best effect.

HX-A MALEVOLENT THUMPER
Sometimes you don't need fancy elemental effects to bring the hurt. This SMG has +98% damage and +52% reload speed for hasty take-downs. An ideal primary weapon for Soldier and Hunter classes.

SG15 HUNTER'S SHOTGUN
Another power weapon, this shotgun packs a tidy 115 damage with a x9 multiplier and critical hit modifier. Sadly, it's let down by having a small two-shot mag and a lengthy reload time. Good for second winds though.

HVY40 INCENDIARY MACHINE GUN
Does what it says on the tin (so to speak). If the bullets don't drop your enemies, the fact it will also set them on fire, will. Shame it only has a x2 elemental damage and a relatively small mag, but one to look out for.

RPG21 STATIC ROCKET LAUNCHER
We claimed this in the final round of the Rust Commons West arena battle. It packs a punch, can remove shields from whole groups of enemies, and causes lasting shock damage. A good all-rounder.

RV10 PESTILENT DEFILER
The description for this powerful revolver is simply 'Give sick'. And that's what it does, with a high chance of corroding enemies with every shot, and the added bonus of that damage spreading. Nice.

PPZ 7.2 LIQUID ORION SNIPER
Not so hot in terms of actual damage, but this elemental sniper rifle is great at causing shock damage and has a 15 bullet mag so you rarely have to reload. Ideal for Sniper-speced Hunters to soften up the enemy.

DEF11-A INCENDIARY DEFENDER
A powerful and rare shotgun that sets enemies on fire for ages, and regenerates ammo at an alarming rate. Once you've bought/found this man-roasting piece of kit you may never need another weapon.

RV10 WHITE LAW
A simple pistol that packs a massive punch. This is the thing that makes bad-guys literally explode into clouds of chunks. Messy, but loses its sting as you approach the late 20 levels. Keep an eye out for an upgrade...

VRR550 BURNING SNIPER
Fancy a break from zapping and corroding enemies from afar? This is the sniper for you. Has a 150% bonus for critical hits (perfect for the Hunter class) and a 3x elemental fire damage effect. Toasty.

HVY29 SHATTERING MAULER
Shattering is the right word. This heavy machine gun may not have fancy elemental effects, but with a 128% damage bonus on top of already healthy (or should that be unhealthy) stats, it's brutal.

SPR11 TERRIBLE CARNAGE
This is a shotgun that shoots rockets. You heard that right, rockets. Each shot has a massive +426% damage, and the rate of fire you can blast them off at isn't too shabby either. A fantastic party piece.

110011 WAVE BLASTER
The very first Eridian weapon you find, this has reasonable damage, reasonable accuracy, reasonable fire rate. Why is it special? Because it has infinite ammo and makes you feel like a futuristic badass.

MAL31 SAVAGE LAW
A solid mid-level pistol with just about everything pimped. Has zoom, recoil, damage, and fire rate boosts. Ideal if you haven't gone down an elemental development route and need a quick, reliable shooter.

DVLXX FEARSOME THUNDER
The most powerful sniper rifle we found. This has a basic damage of 586, and if that doesn't take down your target, there's an added bonus of 150% for critical hits. It's basically a monster in the right hands.

TD230 B LIGHTNING SMG
Won't win any prizes for stopping power, but if you need to electrocute large groups of enemies and keep your distance to avoid having your ass handed back to you, this is the weapon for you.

RPG10 CAUSTIC ROCKET LAUNCHER
This RPG is a serious bit of kit. Weighing in with a hefty 529 basic damage, it also has a high chance of melting the face off anything you fire it at. The drawback? It only fires one rocket in a clip... make it count.

SG10 VITRIOLIC CRUX
Not overly powerful or accurate, but causes massive corrosion damage. You can kill most things by taking one shot then sitting back as they burn - providing you actually connect in the first place.

GGN20XX SOLID GAMBLE
Another weapon with a very apt name. Not a flashy sniper, but it will pop heads like over-ripe melons if you manage to zero in with a critical hit. You'll even get an extra 200% damage for your troubles.

BOOM STICK
We claimed this after besting Baron Flynt inside his Thor fortress. A six-shot shotgun, this causes huge damage, inflicts corrosion after a critical hit, and fires all-six shots in one burst. Hardcore, and perfect for fans of melting things.

101011 Cannon
Another fancy-pants Eridian weapon, this slow-firing rifle will kick out an orb of energy that infl icts a whopping 886 damage per hit, and - as a fi nal insult to the injury - cause sustained shock damage. Alien-chic.
