FFXIII breaks series sales records

One million sold in US, sets series-best first week sales

Some love it, some hate, but despite the mixed reviews Final Fantasy XIII sold over a million copies in the US and set a new series-best for first-week sales, according to Square (via Gamasutra).

Square confirmed earlier this month that it has shipped five million copies of its RPG, with nearly two million of those having sold in Japan in December.

Despite a survey that predicted the Xbox 360 version would do better in the West, it was the PS3 version that just pipped majority sales here in UK with 54 percent.

The US sales are yet to be broken down by console, but expect more exact figures to be released this week.
