Crytek has claimed that Crysis 2 contains the best graphics in the history of video games.
Yes, it's a bold statement - especially as the studio has admitted some teething problems getting its power-hungry CRYEngine 3 to work on consoles.
But it's adamant that it has something pretty special on its hands - and even prettier than the stunning original Crysis on PC.
And that's not all - the studio also reckons Crysis 2 offers a "complete gaming experience like no other".
"We know [developing for PS3] is a big challenge, but we're happy to accept it," Crytek executive producer Nathan Camarillo told CVG sister mag PSM3.
"The most important thing that Crysis taught us as a developer is that, while cinematic graphics and convincing gameplay will get you a lot of press and build strong interest before release - you shouldn't count on that exclusively."
He added: "We're aiming to set the graphical benchmark. Why would anyone not want to play a game with the best graphics they have ever seen, great gameplay, some engaging fiction, challenging AI, killer weaponry and a complete gaming experience like no other?"
Crysis 2 is set in urban New York - a more cramped environment than the first game's sprawling jungle.
It's looking like the Crysis 2 release date will arrive in September.
