Epic Games is targeting a 30fps framerate for Gears of War 3 in order to "put more on screen", the developer's confirmed to CVG.
Responding to yesterday's rough Russian magazine translations, design superstar Cliff Bleszinski said that the developer is indeed opting for prettier visuals over a 60fps framerate.
He said: "Our target is, and shall remain, 30fps. When asked about 60 we always respond that we'd rather have the extra juice to put more on screen and stick with 30."
Yesterday's mag translations suggested that the trade-off in framerate was so that Epic can incorporate "multi-layered shadows, wind and particle effects," plus levels that "change in real time".
Mr. B is keen to stress that online translations have been done "badly" and fans shouldn't totally trust them. Apart from the 30fps bit. That's correct.
