Epic could buy APB - Report

Will Gears of War studio swoop in for RTW flop?

All Points Bulletin (APB), the troubled MMO shut down by Realtime Worlds last night, could be bought by Gears of War developer Epic Games.

That's according to the BBC in a report this morning, which discusses the impending closure of the game but also its possible future:

"A source close to the development team at APB told BBC News that administrators were looking to sell the intellectual property rights to APB and one of the companies in the frame could be US-based Epic Games," it writes.

Now, usually we'd be throwing salt all over a comment that came from one of these mysterious sources, but hey, this is the BBC.

When the BBC approached a spokesperson for Epic they were naturally pretty tight-lipped:

"Mark [Rein] absolutely loves APB, and everyone here loved what they saw.

"We've got our hands full of Gears of War 3, Bullet Storm and the recently announced Project Sword. If any talks like that are going on, then they would be confidential."

That's no where near a denial. So what do we think? Could APB be saved by one Epic rescue mission?
