Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 will both continue to dominate the software sales landscape for four more years.
That's according to THQ CEO Brian Farrell, who told investors last night that the days of five-year console lifecycles were "over".
The comments come after Microsoft's forecast yesterday that it would not launch a new Xbox system for "years and years".
"The video game industry for years was based on this five-year product lifecycle," Farrell told the Goldman Sachs Communacopia Conference in New York.
"We think those days are over. We think the product lifecycle for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 will be an extended lifecycle.
"We do think the majority of sales for our industry will be from these existing platforms. for about the next three or four years."
Microsoft has previously told CVG that Kinect will boost Xbox's lifespan by five years.
