Rein: 3DS 'below minimum specs' for Unreal

Epic's Mark Rein has said the firm believes 3DS is "below minimum specification" for the Unreal Engine, and that the stunning visuals seen in the recent iPhone app Epic Citadel wouldn't be possible on the Nintendo console.
Epic has big plans for Unreal-powered games on Apple's portable devices, but 3DS won't be next on Epic's list, it seems. "It's below our [minimum specifications], from what we can tell. We don't have a 3DS, so there's no way for us to verify that, but everything we've been led to believe is that it's below our min-spec," Rein told Joystiq.
"You couldn't do a game that looks like [Epic Citadel] on it, for example," he added, speaking of the free-to-download and truly stunning UE tech demo for iPhone and iPod Touch.
Rein confirmed there are currently no plans for UE work on 3DS. "Like I said, we really don't know enough about it to make a formal comment, but I think if they considered that our engine would be good on it, they would have probably talked to us about it."
iPhones, then, clearly have the technical upper-hand on Nintendo's yet-to-be-released portable, it seems.
