Sony US 'not happy' over GT5 delay

"We thought we had a good date," says US producer

Sony Computer Entertainment America is "not happy" with Gran Turismo 5's last minute delay, the game's North American producer has told the New York Times.

Speaking via a phone interview with the publication, Taku Imasaki revealed that the decision to pull back the GT5 release - taken by designer Kazonuri Yamauchi and his team - was made just YESTERDAY.

He said: "We're really close, but this was an executive decision that was made yesterday. Realistically, we thought we had a good date. We're not happy over here."

Mr. Imasaki said Sony is now "shooting for it to be out by the holidays. You won't see too much more delay."

We're not surprised Sony US isn't happy - going by the comments thread from yesterday's story some PS3 owners are ready to throw their consoles out the window.

Apologising to fans over the slip this morning, Yamauchi-san said: "It's because time and labor were spent ironing the kinks out of [the game's] complex system. I'm really sorry. Everyone, it's inexcusable... Wait a little longer."
