EA's Eric Brown has confirmed that NBA Elite 11 is officially cancelled, leaving NBA Jam as the only basketball effort from EA this year.
The game was delayed back in September over gameplay quality concerns, as Peter Moore admitted in a blog post. "Unfortunately, NBA ELITE 11 is not yet ready and we have made a decision to delay next month's launch," said Moore at the time.
EA COO John Schappert today confirmed during EA's Q2 investors call that future development of EA's NBA series would be handled by Madden NFL dev EA Tiburon, and not NBA Elite dev EA Canada.
NBA Jam, which was originally intended as a free bonus game packed with the PS3 and 360 versions of NBA Elite 2011 now sits on EA's release schedule as a (much rumoured) separate title for "console" release in Q3 2010. The game has already been confirmed as a disc release on Wii.
