Mark Wahlberg is to play the lead role of Nathan Drake in the upcoming Uncharted movie, the actor has confirmed.
Helmed by Three Kings and The Fighter director David O. Russell, the film is expected to begin shooting this summer.
Wahlberg also told MTV Multiplayer that starring roles are being written for Joe Pesci and Robert De Niro, although neither has signed on for the project yet.
"David is one of the best writer/directors I've ever worked with," he said. "The idea that he has is just insane. So hopefully we'll be making that movie this summer.
"I'm obviously in whatever David wants to do but the idea of it is so off the charts: De Niro being my father, Pesci being my uncle. It's not going to be the watered-down version, that's for sure."
We're certainly full of hope that Uncharted can be a decent game-to-movie adaptation, but what we're really keen on is Uncharted 3.
Official confirmation at the VGAs next month, eh Sony?
