EA has responded to reports that it's halted work on an in-development sequel to Mirror's Edge, telling press the series is "an important franchise".
According to a translated chat put online yesterday, Mirror's Edge 2 has now "stalled", with all parties involved moved over to another project.
An EA spokesperson told 1UP this morning it has "nothing further to announce". Notice how it didn't actually debunk reports the sequel's been put on hold, but then again "an important franchise" wouldn't get outright canned, would it?
EA's been far from quiet on the chances of Mirror's Edge returning so far - and DICE developer CVs have also pointed to a sequel.
EA boss John Riccitiello talked up number two in late 2009: "I've had several very lively debates with the dev team. And they are working on it. But there's a couple of different directions you could go," he said.
