The always-on system, which caused outrage in Ubi games last year, required players to have a constant connection to the internet to play their game. Should their internet go down or they lack a connection for any reason, the game they've paid for would cease to work.

Cristofer Sundberg, boss of Just Cause 2 developer Avalanche, told CVG he thought it 'punishes' legal gamers - those who chose to play a hacked version of the game would obviously circumvent the DRM measures for improved convenience.

But AC: Brotherhood won't suffer the same issue. A Ubi rep has told VG247: "The PC version of Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, after an initial login, will be playable offline in single player mode."

The game was today officially confirmed for a March 18 release, along with details of the different versions being released and the tech specs required of your PC.
