Red Faction movie 'is Battlestar Galactica quality'

'Fantastic script, phenomenal footage' for Red Faction Origins

Red Faction Origins, the live-action TV movie adaptation of the Volition franchise, is of equal quality to sci-fi giant Battlestar Galactica.

That's according to lead writer of Red Faction Armageddon and Saints Row The Third, Drew Holmes, who spoke to CVG about making the dangerous jump from game to movie and avoiding the pitfalls that so many have suffered in the past:

Zoom

"The important thing is that you don't take the experience the game has and stick it right on to a movie. They don't translate: the mediums tell stories and do things really differently." he said.

"So you just have to level what each medium does really well. Just say, 'Alright what does this thing do really really well? How can we tailor a story, an experience, to that - give people the same type of feel, the same universe but not feel wedged in by the game?' Use that to your advantage and not to your disadvantage.

"And I really feel that that's what we're doing, especially with Origins," he continued.

"We've got a fantastic script. I think they're done shooting and I've seen some of the footage and it's just phenomenal, it's Battlestar Galactica quality."

Airing on SyFy, the Origins movie will boast a screenplay written by notable writer and producer Andrew Kreisberg (Warehouse 13, Fringe, Vampire Diaries and Boston Legal), based on a story developed by Paul DeMeo (The Rocketeer, Flash, Viper, The Sentinel).

It will also star none other than Robert Patrick, who played the T-1000 in 1991's Terminator 2: Judgement Day.
