Modern Warfare 3: A modern war too far?

It's a ballpark that makes sense as well since Activision announced the previous edition of its now annual Call of Duty franchise, Black Ops, on April 30 last year.
Rumours from Official PlayStation Magazine UK back in February suggested that Modern Warfare 3 may contain at least some sections linking back to the past of popular character Ghost, a move which we picked your brains about at the time.
PSM3 adds to the rumour and speculation with: "Based on the ending of MW2, we'd be surprised if the story doesn't pick up with Soap and Price on the run, after they were set up by General Shepherd."
But now we want your Modern Warfare 3 thoughts in general. We know a few of you are starting to go off the taste of COD but there are plenty who still make it a massive part of your gaming diet.
Coming off the back of Black Ops, how do you feel about carrying on with the Call of Duty franchise and are you spurred on or slightly wearied by the idea of Infinity Ward kicking its next Modern Warefare into gear?
We've also got to consider the Battlefield 3 factor, with the DICE FPS looking incredibly tasty. Will it's flavour match its presentation? And has it done enough for you too overshadow any Call of Duty anticipation you might have had?
We want to know all of your thoughts - all of them - on the megaton franchise, what it needs to do to impress, whether it's one step too far or one further in the right direction. Click the 'post comment' button.
