7. Hidden vehicles

Okay, you almost certainly know about these - but here's a reminder. Dotted around LA are garage doors marked with the logo of Angel City Security. Next to these you'll see a regular door Phelps can enter, revealing one of 15 hidden vehicles inside. These are the fastest cars in the game, boasting some outlandish retro-futuristic designs. Here's a handy YouTube guide to finding the lot.

8. Innocent until proven guilty

When you're chasing someone down, the temptation is to immediately blow their kneecaps off with your M1911. But hold on; would a cop really do that? Rather than immediately settle for violence, aim and hold your crosshair over your target as you pursue them. If you manage to keep it steady over them for a few seconds without them moving out of your line of sight, Phelps will fire his pistol in the air and they'll freeze in terror, letting you arrest them. Clean, easy, and by the book.

9. Gold film reels

It wouldn't be a Rockstar game without an arbitrary collectible, would it? These film reels are pretty much useless - revealing only the names of classic '40s films - and often maddeningly difficult to spot, as they blend in with the background. But if you want that 100% tropy, you're gonna have to get searching. God, it's the GTAIV pigeons all over again. Or, rather than bust your balls, just use this guide. Don't worry, we won't hold it against you - we used it too.

10. Famous faces

Because Rockstar used real television and film actors to portray the characters in L.A. Noire, the game is full of "Holy crap, I know that dude!" moments. Here are some characters whose faces you might have recognised, and what else they've starred in on the big - and small - screen...

Cole Phelps (Aaron Staton) - Mad Men, Without a Trace, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, The Good Wife
