EA DICE GM Karl Troedsson announced a Battlefield 3 multiplayer service called 'Battlelog' at E3 tonight.
While there aren't many solid details, it's an online offering that appears to do exactly what it says on the tin. Seemingly similar to Call of Duty: Elite - but perhaps not as extensive - it logs players' battle stats during multiplayer sessions using social tools and feeds.
Troedsson said in a blog post it's a "web destination" that "lets you manage your friends lists, squad up, create platoons, use voice chat and follow your friends' progress in real-time, and more". Whether its accessible in-game isn't clear.
"Battlelog will be available for the monthly fee of (drum roll)... zero dollars," he added. "We look forward to providing more information on these features in the near future."

EA said tonight that Battlefield 3 will launch on October 25 following a multiplatform beta in September.
