Iwata: Wii 2's goal is to 'serve every player'

Nintendo global president Satoru Iwata has just told attendees at Nintendo's E3 press conference that Wii's successor is designed to be a system that's equally satisfying to both casual and hardcore players.

"I believe our new platform represents a major step to achieving our goal," he said.

"As an industry, what we haven't achieved yet is a game platform that is equally satisfying for all players.

Our new platform "will provide deeper game experiences than even the most passionate gamer has experienced before... and even wider appeal than Wii", he added.

He then said details on the new console will be provided later in the ongoing presentation. Stay tuned.
