PlayStation Vita to support Microsoft's Skype?

Internet phone service reportedly being lined up for Sony's new handheld

Sony appears to be planning to offer Skype's internet telephone service on PlayStation Vita.

That's according to an image published by GameGeneration, which reportedly originates from a Sony presentation given in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The photo shows the PS Vita alongside a range of service logos, including PSN, Wi-Fi and Skype.

It's not surprising that Sony would want to offer the service on PSP - a Skype application for PSP launched in January 2008 - but it is possible that Microsoft's acquisition of Skype this May could put a spanner in the works.

That's not to say Vita won't support it. Announcing the Skype acquisition, Microsoft said that in addition to supporting the service on first party devices like Xbox 360 and Kinect, it "will continue to invest in and support Skype clients on non-Microsoft platforms".
