Microsoft CEO admits Windows Phone 7 struggles

On the jump from Windows Mobile - "we've gone from very small to very small"

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has acknowledged the company's failed to make the desired impact in the mobile space with the launch of Windows Phone 7.

During a keynote speech at Microsoft's Worldwide Partner Conference in LA earlier this week, he was reportedly sheepish about first year sales figures, but did say the company has sold millions of devices since launch.

On the jump from Windows Mobile to Windows Phone 7, Ballmer said (via Electric Pig): "We've gone from very small to very small..."

Microsoft has referred to Windows Phone 7 as its "mobile console". In May, it announced plans to bring a number of Xbox Live titles to WP7, including Hydro Thunder GP, Doodle Jump, Plants v Zombies, geoDefense and Sonic the Hedgehog 4.
