The future of L.A Noire: The Wire inspires Team Bondi

Boss McNamara on overlapping characters in next game

Team Bondi is already kicking around ideas for its next game, citing US TV drama classic The Wire as a major inspiration.

The Australian studio's L.A Noire is still riding high in the charts, having become the top-selling game in the US throughout June.

When asked in the spanking new issue of PSM3 if Team Bondi would consider making a crime epic set in modern day Los Angeles - perhaps taking influence from The Shield - studio boss Brendan McNamara replied:

"Yeah, we're big fans of [modern TV crime] shows... I think one of the strengths of L.A Noire is that you can have characterisation like A, B, C, D, E, F, G kind of characters - people who just had a cameo but [the actors] did these incredible performances.

"I think one of the things we'd like to explore is this idea with a cast of people where we keep reconnecting them, like TV shows such as The Wire did. And someone who has a small part - and even big stars have these parts - could develop and become more interesting.

"I think that's one of the desires going forward - that you have a favourite character, you get to meet them more often, different things happen. But that's all game design story stuff we're kicking around."

When asked if Bondi was planning a straight sequel to L.A Noire, McNamara said that the franchise was Rockstar's "property" and that the publishers "next imperitive is probably Max Payne, and further on they've got other, bigger fish to fry than L.A Noire...".

Hmm, whatever could he mean, hey folks...

The second downloadable content pack for L.A Noire, Reefer Madness, was released earlier this month.

The new PSM3 is chock full of great content, including a stunning 12-page special preview of Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - and the full six-page interview with McNamara.
