Golden Joysticks 2011: Your Ultimate Game of The year is...

It's the big one - the Golden Joystick Awards Ultimate Game of the Year, and the public have voted Valve's seminal puzzler Portal 2 as the overall winner for 2011.

Portal 2 released on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 earlier this year to overwhelming critical acclaim. In our Portal 2 review we called the puzzle shooter "one of 2011's most interesting, challenging blockbusters."

"Valve's sequel is another fantastic display of no-filler design; gameplay is relentlessly imaginative and evolves seamlessly from effortless hurdle to mind-boggling physics test - and we'd throw ourselves through the ceiling for more."

Valve's since released the Peer Review DLC, which adds new challenges for players to solve as P-Body and Atlas, the stars of Portal 2's co-operative campaign.

Getting respectable runners-up places in the Ultimate Game of the Year category are Blizzard's StarCraft II and Activision FPS monster Call of Duty: Black Ops.

A well deserved winner here if you ask us. Who doesn't love Portal 2? Let us know in the comments below.
