Richard Garriott nets $32m in NCsoft contract dispute

Appeals court rules in favour of the Ultima creator

The 5th Circuit Court of Appeals has upheld last year's judgement against NCSoft in a contract dispute with Richard Garriott, which awarded the Ultima and Tabula Rasa creator $28 million following a nasty split from the Korean publisher.

Garriott sued NCsoft in 2009 for breach of contract and fraud, claiming he'd been forced out of the company following a 2008 space flight.

NCsoft had earlier claimed Garriott left voluntarily, a move which would have had significant implications for his stock options with the company.

The latest court ruling adds interest and attorney's fees Garriott's award, taking the total to $32 million.
