Are YOU playing Modern Warfare 3 early?

Broken UK street date reports trickle in ahead of the big midnight launch

Did you pick up a copy of Modern Warfare 3 this weekend or receive your pre-order early in the post, and if so are you playing the game online?

Several independent retailers in London have confirmed to CVG they've been selling the game ahead of its official midnight launch this evening, with one breaking the street date as early as Friday afternoon.

A number of British Call of Duty fans spent the weekend playing the monster FPS online, despite warnings that doing so ahead of release risked an Xbox Live ban.

However, Infinity Ward creative strategist Robert Bowling later confirmed on Twitter that wouldn't be the case: "No plans to ban legit fans, but try to wait til midnight launch on Tuesday to play #MW3," he said. "Can't wait to jump online with everyone then!"

US retailer Kmart began selling the game last week following an admin error, while a truck containing around 6,000 copies of the shooter was reportedly hijacked over the weekend.

The London Modern Warfare 3 launch will be live streamed tonight.
