Activision's bank balance is going to swell significantly in the next 24 hours when as many as 6 million gamers snag their slice of Modern Warfare 3.
That's how many copies of its latest Call of Duty game could sell on its first day on sale, according to Sterne Agee analyst Arvind Bhatia.
"We expect MW3 to grow 10% versus last year's Call of Duty: Black Ops, which has sold through more than 25 million units life-to date," Bhatia told Industry Gamers.
"We expect 5.5M-6.0M unit sales of MW3 on day 1 and nearly 18M units in the December quarter."
Those figures are staggering, but not beyond the CoD series. Wedbush analyst Michael Pachter has predicted that sales of Modern Warfare 3 are likely to hit 16 million units in the fourth quarter of the year - double that of his predictions for Battlefield 3, which he believes will sell around 8 million.
