EA backtracks, offers Battlefield 1943 to PS3 BF3 owners

Publisher says "there have been some misunderstandings"

EA will honour its original promise of offering owners of the PS3 version of Battlefield 3 a free downloadable copy of Battlefield 1943.

The news comes shortly after the publisher was threatened with being taken to court over its failure to deliver the free game as announced at this year's E3.

EA had initially tried to palm off Battlefield 3 PS3 owners by saying they'd be getting timed-exclusive DLC for the game instead, but we already knew that, so the whole thing seemed a bit cheeky on the publisher's part.

"There have been some misunderstandings around Battlefield 1943 and Battlefield 3," the firm said in a statement. "To address this we are making Battlefield 1943 available free of charge to owners of Battlefield 3 on the PS3 beginning this month."

Battlefield 1943 PSN vouchers will be available for BF3 PS3 owners in Europe on November 26, in America on December 10 and in Asia/Japan on December 17. To download your copy, follow these simple steps.
