The Witcher franchise made 1.5 million sales in 2011

CD Projekt sold 1.5 million games in The Witcher franchise in 2011.

1,110,055 of those sales were of The Witcher 2, which sold 270,000 via digital distribution methods.

The Witcher, the first game in the series, released in 2007 and still managed 400,000 sales in 2011.

CD Projekt RED studio head Adam Badowski said, "We were all incredibly surprised by the number of copies sold. The Witcher 2 has garnered over 60 industry awards, and gamers seem to love it."

Badowski seems equally as pleased with sales of the first game. "I have to admit, though, that the sales results for The Witcher, 5 years on from the game's premier, are remarkable. If anything, they prove that the content we put into our games ages well. I think that The Witcher will continue to generate buzz in the coming years," he said.

The Witcher 2 will finally arrive on Xbox 360 in April with numerous enhancements.
