Atari shuts Test Drive Unlimited developer

Atari has closed Test Drive Unlimited developer Eden Games and plans to refocus its efforts on mobile titles after reporting a disappointing set of annual financial results.

The publisher saw revenue decline 44 percent to £31.8 million for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2012, although it almost halved its losses to £3 million, Edge reports.

Atari laid off the majority of Eden Games staff last May and has now sold off its remaining assets.

It has also sold its stake in game and anime-focused French television station GameOne, and last year it sold Champions Online developer Cryptic Studios to Chinese online gaming specialist Perfect World for approximately £30.5 million.

Atari will now refocus its efforts on mobile games, noting in its financial results that downloads of its mobile titles have exceeded ten million copies across iOS and Android.
