Valve 'has no plans' for digital pre-owned trading

But tough EU ruling suggests customers must have option to sell on content

Washington studio Valve Software currently has no intention to allow its customers to trade-in digital games and create a new kind of digital pre-owned market.

Jason Holtman, a business development director at the company, told PCGamesN that the company "does not have any plans to change".

But a new EU ruling may restrict Valve's capacity to negotiate on the matter.

In July, the Court of Justice of the European Union said "an author of software cannot oppose the resale of his used licences".

It means, at least theoretically, that all European Union state citizens have the right to sell on their purchased digital licences.
