Xbox 360 continues hardware sales domination in the US

As expected, Xbox 360 was the top-selling console in the US in June.

Microsoft's system sold 257,000 units during the month to hold a 47 percent share of current-generation console sales, according to data from retail monitor the NPD Group, which the platform holder was more than happy to pass along.

Xbox 360 has now been the best-selling console in the States for a whopping 18 consecutive months.

Nintendo also had something to crow about - it shifted 155,000 3DS units in June, taking the handheld's lifetime sales past the five million mark.

Our email inbox is missing its regular NPD response from Sony, so perhaps we can assume it was a quiet month for the PS3 and Vita maker.

Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes was the top-selling game in the US in June, while Pokemon Conquest and The Amazing Spider-Man also made top ten debuts.
