Rumours that Rocksteady's next game is a Batman prequel set in the Silver Age are both exciting and infuriating.
Those that managed to complete Arkham City, witness its shocking conclusion and pick up on the clues hinting about the future of the series will know exactly why we're a little peeved at the idea of waiting for another entry.
At the same time we'd love to see what Rocksteady puts together when yanked out of a Batman world of its own creation and dropped into one that is its polar opposite. We've been thinking long and hard about it, and have come up with a few ideas of what we'd like to see.
Let us know what you want in Batman: Silver Age in the comments below.
The folks over at Rocksteady are a smart bunch so we imagine it'll be applying the old 'if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it' adage to much of the next Batman game. Arkham City's combat was the perfect balance of simplicity, depth and badass..ness (Badassery? Badassitude?), but we've got an idea for how it could be even more exciting.
If rumours that the game will also feature other DC characters are true we'd like them to be integrated into the combat. In the Arkham games by tapping Y or Triangle just as an enemy is about to land an attack the Dark Knight could counter the incoming blow. Rocksteady could add a second 'assist' button to do the same using other heroes.
Obviously we don't want the likes of Superman, Green Lantern and Wonder Woman having all the fun so their actions should be more defensive. Batman could call on Supes to use his superhuman breath to knock back an enemy, or utilise Flash's super speed to dizzy a group of bad guys, or get the Martian Manhunter to throw distant enemies towards him using his elongating limbs.
To avoid making it overly-complicated we'd like limit it to one assist, perhaps ask the player to pick from a selection or constraint options to the hero that happens to be tagging along for that particular mission.
