Windows 8 confirmed for October release

Microsoft confirms official launch date

Microsoft has announced via the Windows blog that Windows 8 will be released October 26.

Windows president Steven Sinofsky made the announcement during an annual sales meeting, with the details later posted on the Windows blog.

It's rumored that Microsoft will bypass the traditional retail release for Windows 8. For customers looking to upgrade from Windows XP, Vista or 7, an upgrade to Windows 8 pro will cost US$39.99.
