Runescape surpasses 200 million registered users

New milestone for eleven year-old title

Cambridge based MMO specialist Jagex has said its MMO Runescape has surpassed 200 million registered users.

The game, which launched in 2001 as a rudimentary MMO, has thrived from using a hybrid freemium model. Subscription options available will cost users anything between £3 and £10 per month.

Jagex is predominantly owned by a US private equity and venture capital firm.

The studio did not reveal any statistics regarding Runescape's current active users.
