Asked by MCV what Sony's internal big-bet for PS3 this Christmas is, PlayStation UK boss Fergal Gara said:
"Wonderbook is top of the pile and certainly the biggest number we'll be going after and it's tremendous that we have such great early feedback.
"I had a glimpse of it a few months ago and it was just like this is very special, we've got to put this across now and make sure the consumers understand what it is we are offering them then this should fly because it is unlike anything I've ever seen."
Requiring a physical book, the software, a PS3 and a Move controller, Book of Spells is described by Sony "as an advanced textbook for students which will assist them on their journey to becoming an accomplished witch or wizard.
"J.K. Rowling has written a conundrum that leads you through the experience, providing insight into the values a witch or wizard has to learn, and inviting you to journey through the book to unlock new content, rewarding successful students along the way."
Gara went on to label Wonderbook "certainly the most inspirational product we've seen for the Move in the two years since it's been out".
Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida said last month that the platform holder's "strategy for Christmas is to go big on family-friendly titles".
He explained: "This is a neglected genre for the PlayStation 3, but as it matures, I think it's really important to have these games on the platform. I think we have a great lineup this holiday to complement third parties' big core games."
