A dedicated Diablo 3 player claims to have made $10,000 in virtual item trading on the game's Real Money Auction House.
The anonymous person published his results on the social networking site Reddit, posting evidence of various PayPal transactions and item trading.
In twelve days he made about $2,700, the data shows, which is about $1,600 per week.
The Reddit user claimed to have made more than $10,000 through the Diablo 3 auction service, and revealed partial evidence of the feat.
"One of my favourite parts of gaming has been the economics of the item markets since I started trading in Neopets ten years ago," the [person said.
"It is what first got me interested in economics, and I am now studying business at a good university. I hope to consult with game companies someday about balancing the economies of their games."
Diablo 3's Real Money Auction House allows people to trade items with other players of the Blizzard MMO.
In a discussion with Reddit users, the person observed that the Diablo 3 seller economy appears to be contracting due to a saturation of supply.
The person claims to also be a stock market trader.
Last week Blizzard revealed that Diablo 3 has amassed more than ten million players.
