The new game Obsidian teased last week has been revealed to be a fantasy RPG with the working title 'Project Eternity'.
Following the reveal, Obsidian announced a Kickstarter campaign to fund the project, which the studio describes as a return to their roots. "It's been almost impossible to get funding through traditional methods for a game like this," the studio wrote on its Kickstarter page.
It wasn't long before the base goal of $1.1 million was reached, but Obsidian have promised new features if further milestones are reached. For example, if the studio raises $1.4 million the game's character creation will be deeper.
'Project Eternity' is an old school dungeon crawler in the vein of Baldur's Gate. Here's what the studio has to say about the project:
"Combat uses a tactical real-time with pause system - positioning your party and coordinating attacks and abilities is one of the keys to success. The world map is dotted with unique locations and wilderness ripe for exploration and questing. You'll create your own character and collect companions along the way - taking him or her not just through this story, but, with your continued support, through future adventures. You will engage in dialogues that are deep, and offer many choices to determine the fate of you and your party. ...and you'll experience a story that explores mature themes and presents you with complex, difficult choices to shape how your story plays out."
