The menu system on display - which may or may not be the finished article - enables users to scroll through game covers using the GamePad's touch screen and select to either play a demo or watch a video.
Last week Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime predicted that Miiverse, Wii U's embedded social networking service, will be "a true killer application for the system".
Nintendo has confirmed a Wii U release date of November 30 in Europe, with the Wii U price starting at £230.
