Sony poised to release free-to-play Singstar

The popular PS3 edition of SingStar will launch this week as a free-to-play game, a growing body of evidence suggests.
The karaoke favourite launched across Europe five years ago, and has been updated with numerous tracks to sing along to.
However, it appears that Sony wants to break down the initial price barrier and offer the game as a free PlayStation Network app. The company has yet to confirm this, though the official SingStar twitter account is discussing the matter openly.
The theory is that offering the game experience for free will bring more people into the game's online store of songs to buy and download.

Further validation of the SingStar switch to free-to-play comes via news website PSN Stores, which shows a message within the game stating: "The complete SingStar experience will be available as a free download very soon".
