Star Wars 1313 'not affected' by Disney acquisition of Lucasfilm

But LucasArts will eventually realign to focus on casual and mobile games

Disney's show-stopping $4 billion acquisition of George Lucas's Lucasfilm will not have any direct impact on development of Star Wars 1313, according to people involved with the matter.

LucasArts, the interactive media arm of Lucasfilm, made waves at E3 this year when it first revealed Star Wars 1313. However, doubts were cast over the project this week when Disney CEO Bob Iger announced that Lucasfilm will focus on mobile and tablet games as opposed to console projects.

Yet LucasArts insisted that no immediate impact will be felt. In a statement issued to IGN, the company said: "For the time being all projects are business as usual. We are excited about all the possibilities that Disney brings."

In a press conference last night, Igor claimed that Disney would pursue console games "opportunistically," meaning the Star Wars licence could be shipped to other companies.
