Microsoft working on 'Xbox gaming tablet' - report

Microsoft is reportedly working on a 7-inch gaming tablet called Xbox Surface.

That's according to The Verge, which claims to have been informed by multiple sources that the secret project will likely include a custom ARM processor and high-bandwidth RAM designed specifically for gaming tasks.

The report goes on to claim that Xbox Surface will run a custom Windows kernel rather than a full version of Windows.

It also says that Microsoft's recent move to beef up security at its Redmond campus that plays home to the Xbox team is just as likely to be related to increased testing of the tablet as it is to guarding Xbox 720 plans.

Microsoft refused to comment on the report.
