World of Warcraft subs rebound to 10 million following Mists of Pandaria release

Leading MMO halts decline thanks to recent expansion

Activision Blizzard has said that World of Warcraft subscribers have risen back beyond the 10 million mark.

This will be a welcomed rebound for the previously declining MMO, which had dipped to 9.1 million users by the end of the previous quarter.

The jump comes after the release of the game's latest major expansion, Mists of Pandaria, which the firm says sold through 2.7 million copies in its first week on sale.

This, according to the publisher, along with the success of Diablo 3, has helped Activision Blizzard cement its position as the "1# PC publisher in in the US and Europe" in 2012.

Activision today reported "better-then-expected" financial results for Q3 2012, with net revenues of $841 million.
