Halo 4 has debuted at No.1 on the UK all formats chart for the week ended November 10.
The Xbox 360 exclusive shooter sold slightly more units than last week's PS3 and 360 release Assassin's Creed 3, which slips to No.2.
Halo 4, the first game in the franchise not to be developed by series creator Bungie, ranks as the UK's 18th biggest SKU launch in terms of week one unit sales, but fails to beat 2007's Halo 3 (15th biggest) or Halo Reach (12th biggest).
The only other new entry in this week's top 40 is PS3 exclusive LittleBigPlanet Karting at No.24.
