Beyonce to face trial in $100m dance game lawsuit

Beyonce has failed in a second attempt to escape going to trial in a $100 million video game lawsuit.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, an appeals court has ruled that Beyonce must face trial to answer allegations brought against her by New York firm Gate Five, which claims the pop star breached a licensing deal by walking away from a commitment to make a dance video game.

Last April Gate Five sued Beyonce for what it labelled "a bad faith breach of contract so callous that, on what appeared to be a whim, she destroyed Gate Five's business and drove 70 people into unemployment, the week before Christmas".

Gate Five is seeking "hundreds of millions of dollars" in damages to compensate for lost profits.

Beyonce argues she was entitled to walk away from the motion-sensing game, which was set to be named Starpower: Beyonce, because Gate Five hadn't obtained a necessary $5 million financing commitment.
