Vita web browser upgrade allows background running

19th Nov 2012 | 23:31

The Vita's on board web browser will be upgraded this week to allow for use whilst a game is running.

As Sony's Shuhei Yoshida explained via Twitter today, the browser has been reclassified as a "small app", meaning you will no longer have to quit your game to open the browser.

Despite Sony having curiously neglected to announce this previously, the change will come as a much-welcomed upgrade in today's firmware update to version 2.00.

Yoshida also confirmed that the browser has received a noticeable performance boost for improved browsing speed, as well as other previously-announced new features.

The firmware update arrives tomorrow in US and Wednesday in EU.
