Gearbox explains lack of Borderlands on Wii U

No "obvious" ways to exploit the system's hardware, says dev boss

Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford has explained why the developer is bringing Aliens: Colonial Marines to Wii U, but not its hugely successful Borderlands games.

"We get asked if there is going to be a Wii U version of Borderlands," he told GamesMaster.

"The reason why there's not is because we couldn't think of a natural, obvious, 'OMG, I want that for what the Wii U brings to the table' feature."

This, however, was not the case with Aliens, he said.

"But with Aliens, the first thing we thought was 'holy shit, I can have a motion controller in my hands!' When it's there in my lap it feels like I'm part of the movie."

We slapped an 8.5 score on the end of our Borderlands 2 review, in which we said, "Light on story and heavy on guns, Borderlands 2 is saved from XP strip-mining by a sharp sense of humour and a slick, destructive multiplayer."
