Lego Lord of the Rings demo out on Xbox Live, US PSN

PS3 and Xbox trial version up for those on the fence

A playable demo for Lego Lord of the Rings has been released on Xbox Live and the US PlayStation Store today.

The free demo is 662.5 MB on PS3, and 453.42 MB on Xbox Live, and will prove handy for anyone who fancies a taster before laying down the cash.

The game launched in US and UK on all formats (Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, DS, 3DS, Vita and PC) earlier this month.

The game's based on the The Lord of the Rings movie trilogy and promises to let players "explore wonders, solve timeless riddles, and overcome endless foes" as they bid to destroy The One Ring and save Middle-earth.

Playable characters will include Frodo, Aragorn the Ranger, Gandalf the Wizard, Legolas the Elf, Gimli the Dwarf, Boromir, a man of Gondor, and Frodo's Hobbit friends Sam, Merry and Pippin.
