Faith and hope: Mirror's Edge easter egg found in Battlefield 3 DLC

Hidden on an out-of-the way, nondescript building on the Markaz Monolith map included with
Battlefield developer DICE has placed a pair of red shoes on one corner of the dilapidated building. Obviously, these are the iconic bright red trainers worn by Mirror's Edge protagonist Faith.
Interestingly, if you stand close to them and listen really closely Faith can be heard breathing heavily. Just a cool touch or a sign that there's still life in her (and the franchise) yet?
Earlier this month former EA studio boss Ben Cousins said "it is general knowledge in the Stockholm dev scene" that Mirror's Edge 2 is in production.
